Welcome to the website of James B. Sanderlin PK-8. I am proud to have served as the principal of this wonderful internationally-minded program since we opened our doors in the 2003-2004 school year. In February 2007, we were delighted to receive authorization as an official International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school, one of the thousands of IB schools worldwide.
I truly believe that all International Baccalaureate Programmes provides a learning framework in which every child can be academically challenged and perform at high levels as they demonstrate the traits of the IB Learner Profile. We have a firm commitment to developing a rich and authentic learning and teaching environment, where what we do every day should help students become caring, knowledgeable and principled citizens. In today's world, children must recognize and respond to their personal commitment to themselves, their community, and the world at large.
Our school culture is built on respect and responsibility, in which we share common values, traditions, and rituals, as well as celebrate the richness of life experiences through connecting to a variety of cultures.
With a common vision, our teaching staff work as a collaborative team, continually reflecting on our current practice and student progress. Children are the focus of our conversations and decisions, as "what is best for students" is a common theme and driving force.
At Sanderlin, children truly do come first! I look forward to the ongoing successes and celebrations of students and staff in this school!
